Tarishi Verma, PhD
My goal in life is to contribute to research in a way that impacts people, educate curious minds, and grow herbs in my dream kitchen garden.
Hello!
I am Tarishi, Assistant Professor at the Department of Art and Communications, Albertus Magnus College. I teach communication based courses.
I received my PhD from the Bowling Green State University. My dissertation is titled “The Legitimacy of Online Feminist Activism” which is an analysis of the subversion of shame in the reporting of sexual assault on social media platforms and the internet as a space for the voice of women.
My research interests include media studies, gender, cultural studies, global communication, intercultural communication. Most of my interdisciplinary work includes studying gender in tandem with media and sociology. I am also interested in digital studies and hashtag research. I have a strong qualitative research experience with expertise in various methods, from the designing to implementing to conducting the research.
My interactions with my students rely on the three principles: empathy, learning, and praxis. I focus on imparting knowledge and skills that they can use for their future jobs. I build assignments based on application that can be added to their curriculum vitae.
I have previously worked as a journalist and have experience in audio-video production.
